FREE Friday @ First Ladies National Historic Site

Stark Parks and the First Ladies National Historic Site
The First Ladies National Historic Site and Stark Parks will partner during the 2012 - 2013 school year to offer area schools uniquely designed full day field trips that focus on history, health and the environment. The program for fall for students K through 5th grade are full day at no charge. In the fall Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! is scheduled for the week of September 17, 2012.
The educational programs make use of interactive puppet shows with live historic characters in a theatrical setting, technology, hiking, live animals, planting, physical exercise and interaction with nature in a natural preserve. Both programs will begin in the morning at the First Ladies National Historic Site in downtown Canton and continue in the afternoon at Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park in Perry Township. Class sizes are limited to 75 and are by reservation only. Call for details and reservations only at (330) 452 – 0876 Ext. 307. Visit our websites at www.firstladies.org and www.starkparks.com.
*** Please note this is open to the public schools. I am the very first one registered for the week!!!! Please join me on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10AM!!! If we have enough signed up, we may have our own homeschool group for this session? They did allow me to sign up my four-year old Preschooler :)
We will need to drive from the First Ladies Museum to Sippo Lake Park. Once registered, they will call to confirm closer to the date. Also, please bring a lunch as it will go until approx. 2-3PM. Whatever time the kids will need to back at the public schools to return home.

Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco
Performances for the Children's Theater at Playhouse Square for 2012-2013. Individual tickets are regular price $10 or more. I am gathering group tickets for ONLY $5 per ticket per show as described below for shows listed (dates and times). Please send all monies by Monday, September 17, 2012.
When ordering tickets, please keep in mind:
1. list show(s) purchasing tickets for
2. how many tickets for each show
3. how you would like to receive the tickets (self addressed envelope, will call, meetup, etc)
This show will be held at Playhouse Square in Downtown Cleveland. Sorry, they do not allow children under two years of age at the school performances. I am really looking forward to the performances and meeting new homeschoolers!!!!

Homeschool Geography Club
I am beginning a new Geography Club that I am so excited to share with everyone! This will be a great way for Moms/children to get to know one another an a personal level. Each month we will select a country and the children will research various aspects of that country, such as:
1. Clothing/Traditional Dress
2. Food/Ethnic Cuisine
3. Climate
4. Language
5. Customs
This is not an inclusive list, but some ideas to get everyone started! We will make passports for the children, so as they visit each country it will be marked in their passport. Almost like traveling the globe!
Our first meeting is Monday, October 1, 2012.
I hope you will join us, we are meeting at the Stow Library, the 1st Monday of the month from 2-4PM. If you would like to be a part of the group, please feel free to contact me at DecadentChocolate@gmail.com or (330) 630-3837. I am happy to answer any additional questions you may have as well.

Dear Fellow Homeschoolers!
Welcome to my blog, I appreciate you stopping by! I plan on posting things I find beneficial along with field trips I organize. The plan is 2nd Friday Field Trips each month! I will also post Free activities and events. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone!
I am relatively new to homeschooling. It is such a blessing to be able to stay home with our girls and give them the education we want them to have. I just love watching them grow and blossom in front of my eyes. There are so many joys!
