The lady who organizes Piano-a-thon told me that it began as a one day event and has GROWN to a full week with so many willing to share their time and talents!!! With Piano-a-thon lasting a week, there are many time slots she needs to fill and working with the piano teachers makes her job that much easier, I LOVE her heart!!! She had offered a few time slots we could have slid into, but timing was not right. Praying we will be able to participate next year?
Piano-a-thon is held at the Akron Children's hospital; Steinway brings in a grand piano for the students to perform on. If your students have not performed on a Steinway, all I can say is it is the difference between good soil and clay?
Here is the website for your piano teacher to make arrangements: http://2017pianoathon.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1171524
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;
5make music to the LORD with the harp" Psalm 98:4-5
What a blessing to help the least of His through our children's love of music!!! We know many people who work at Akron Children's Hospital and the work they do is incredible. If you think your piano teacher would be interested in this fundraiser, please have them put this on their calendar for next year!!!
"Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,
5praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals." Psalm 150:3-5
The lady who runs the event, said it is very much like a recital only a little more casual. Of course doctors, nurses and patients would be passing through and stopping to listen, but they also set up chairs for people to sit and enjoy, which is what music is meant for us to do. Stop and listen with our hearts and minds.To us, music is to be shared with others and so we would like to encourage you to consider for next year!!! Keep being a blessing friends, we love YOU :)
Joyfully yours,
Kim
