The Transition Begins Another Year Ecole à la Maison!

Greetings Friends!

Praying you are well and had a fantastic and exciting summer building memories as a family together!  Each summer I have great intentions of keeping up with this or continuing with that.  Well, like most years it does not happen.  We did keep up with piano lessons and reading.  But the love of music and reading are so important, right?  Music is awesome for the brain and reading carries us through life and takes us places we cannot go.  Sadly, math did not make the cut and to my dismay neither did French.  Only so much time and it is just as important to build memories.  French is s
uch a beautiful language and I still dream of one day visiting France - ooh la la!!!  It will be fun to see what we still remember.
If you are that Mom that can school during the summer kudos to you!  Honestly, I am just as happy as the kids when school ends and summer begins.  A break let's us reflect, refresh and reload.  It lets this momma get a little creative in the garden, in the kitchen, catching up with friends, caring for aging parents, in the country on our forever home, etc.  Ideas are always flowing but time, etc are limited.

The kids enjoyed a couple of camps with our church and birthday celebrations!!  Now we look forward to another year as all of you do as well.  Laying out our expectations and aspirations for the year and instilling excitement into the kids to gear up for a great and FUN year!!!  We as Moms and Dads are shaping our little people and not so little people into becoming responsible and ambitious adults.  How amazing to see the future unfold for these precious children.

As a homeschool Mom, I need to take time to enjoy each day and the moments with them as the kids grow in their studies, remembering that each student learns differently and at their own pace.  How humbling!!!  Today, I was reminded at a funeral to not take things too seriously and that kids will accomplish things in their own time.  The funeral was for a relative on my husband's side and a father of a rock star.  It was neat to see someone of fanfare as a person like any of us....losing my Mom a year and a half ago our situations were most different.  One could tell this was a close knit family, chit chatting it up..... knowing the family background this was most impressive to witness.  I have such admiration for families who are able to remain close in today's world of social media and families broken up across the state and country.  So learning that, said rock star has been married for decades to his wife and now has a student in college; his wife is an accomplished fashion designer who immigrated from another country!  The sky is the limit with nurturing, we encourage the kids in whatever they enjoy, one of ours enjoys crafting with cardboard, tape, glue, etc....yes, our house can be found in a mess and there have been times of clean up in unexpected places, but that is what learning is made of, getting messy.  We do not see the mind at work, but learning is happening at every turn of a corner or page ;)

Being a homeschool Mom knowing that our students have the hand of God on them and can do anything their heart's desire is such a relief!  It makes me think and give thanks and praise to you, Father God.  We just need to have faith and trust Him to lead us and them and not to worry because He is in control and His ways are always best!

Well, I have rambled on longer than I planned.  Just want to encourage us to keep going and to cultivate a real love for learning, along with going into the school year with little stress is so important!  It is such a joy that we are called and have the freedom and ability to homeschool and be called their Mom and teacher, shepherding and transforming their little hearts, minds and bodies.

Gradually we shift into the school year so we are not in culture shock with the weather still being beautiful.  Looking forward to seeing you in the homeschool circuit soon!!
May God Bless you, your family and your school year :)  If you need prayer, please contact me....it would be a blessing to pray with you and for you!

Joyfully, Kim
